The MEDIET4ALL project

About MEDIET4ALL

OVERVIEW OF THE CONTEXT FOR MEDITERRANEAN DIET

The Mediterranean Diet (MEDIET or MedDiet) is considered the world’s healthiest and most sustainable way of eating, promoting overall well-being and longevity. It is also environmentally friendly, as it conserves water, energy, and land.

Unfortunately, due to modern societal trends, people are moving away from the MEDIET towards takeout, fast food, and ultra-processed foods and drinks (UPFDs). This trend is increasing exponentially across all age groups, particularly in European-Mediterranean regions, with harmful impacts on both the population and the environment.

Therefore, it is crucial to take urgent actions to bring about a positive change in eating and lifestyle habits.

WHAT WE AIM TO DO

The overall objective of the MEDIET4ALL project is to support people in transitioning from consuming a lot of ultra-processed foods to embracing the modern and sustainable Mediterranean diet.

Our mission involves creating a global movement to put the best ideas and innovative solutions into action.

We aim to encourage people of all ages in modern societies to adopt the Mediterranean Diet and its associated lifestyle, promoting health, sustainability, and well-being.

Our approach maintains the low processing, high nutritional value and sustainability of the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle.

EMPOWERING MEDITERRANEAN DIET ADOPTION

MEDIET4ALL Products:

  • Establishing databases with comprehensive information on the Mediterranean diet’s products like ingredients, food, modern recipes, and eco-friendly packaging, and their sources. This initiative will help connect farmers with consumers, build MEDIET supply chains in many places, and facilitate access to affordable products.
  • Designing active bio-packaging solutions to maintain eco-friendliness and food safety while extending the shelf life of MEDIET products.

MEDIET4ALL Campaigns:

    • Organizing traditional and tech-driven awareness and motivational campaigns promote the MEDIET4ALL movement, leveraging various platforms to educate and inspire individuals about the benefits of Mediterranean diet and lifestyle.

    MEDIET4ALL ICT-Solutions:

    • Developing website, integrative platform and mobile apps that act as smart coaches, offering personalized dietary programs, physical exercise suggestions, and psychosocial advice tailored to each user’s health status, age, preferences, and cultural background.

During the collaborative research activities, the acceptability and efficacy of these multidimensional approaches in promoting the initial adherence to Mediterranean lifestyle and the physical and mental health will be tested across various sectors and communities.

MEDIET4ALL will collaborate closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including hotels, canteens, restaurants, and food companies, to offer MEDIET meals on-site, for takeout, delivery, or as packaged and ready-to-eat options. This partnership also extends to the scientific community, nutritionists, food and health professionals, as well as EU clusters and networks, ensuring a comprehensive approach to promoting healthier eating habits.
