MEDIET4ALL: 2.3 million euros to promote a healthy Mediterranean lifestyle
JGU coordinates the “MEDIET4ALL” project as part of the EU PRIMA program.
Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) coordinates the research and innovation PRIMA project “MEDIET4ALL”, which involves 10 partners from 8 countries and has a total budget of EUR 2.3 million. The project will start shortly, on June 1, 2023, for a period of 3 years.
Building on the multidisciplinary (e.g. science, engineering and humanities) expertise of the MEDIET4ALL consortium, the present joint project aims to support the transition from an unhealthy lifestyle (e.g. sedentary lifestyle, extremely processed food, etc.) to a modern and sustainable MEDLifestyle through the joint implementation of best practices and innovative solutions to improve the convenience, modernity, competitiveness and durability of MEDIET and the adherence to the healthy lifestyle in modern societies.
Project team and cooperation partners:
Applicants from JGU (i.e. Institute of Sports Science) are Dr. Achraf Ammar (PI), Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schöllhorn, Jun. Prof. Dr. Juliane Heydenreich, and Jun. Prof. Dr. Christiana Schallhorn.
In addition to JGU, seven academic and two non-academic institutions are involved in this project. The academic partners include the Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (UBFC) from France, the Universitat de València (UV) from Spain, the Università degli Studi di Palermo (UNIPA) from Italy, the University of Sfax (UoSF) from Tunisia, the National School of Agriculture in Meknes (ENA) and the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rabat (FMPR) from Morocco and the University M’Hamed Bougara in Boumerdes (UMBB) from Algeria. The non-academic partners include VITAGORA from France and MICROTARIENS from Luxembourg.
MEDIET4ALL project activities
In addition to the research and development activities (e.g. platforms, apps, educational tools, serious games, etc.), various events will be organized as part of this project. The kick-off meeting for MEDIET4ALL will take place at JGU in Mainz from July 3-6, 2023, and open-door events such as scientific conferences, awareness campaigns (e.g. for school-age children and parents) and MEDIET cooking courses will take place as the project progresses.
